Program Educational Objectives
Program educational objectives are broad statements that describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years of graduation. Program educational objectives are based on the needs of the program’s constituencies.
The Civil Engineering program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale prepares students to attain the following skills, 3 to 5 years after graduation:
- Apply technical knowledge and skills to formulate solutions to real-world problems that are fundamental to civil engineering analysis and design.
- Successfully pursue advanced degrees or professional development activities that support life-long learning and professional licensure.
- Act in a professional and ethical manner, and consider resource sustainability, public safety, health and welfare in their professional work.
- Effectively contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
