Society of Automotive Engineering (SAE) Saluki Baja

Founded in 2010 the SAE Saluki Baja chapter proudly represents the college of engineering at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Our team designs, builds, tests, and races a new mini-baja car each year. The racing is done at sanctioned Society of Automotive Engineer tournaments. These tournaments involve four dynamic events (acceleration, maneuverability, sled-pull, and suspension) and a grueling four hour endurance race that is built to push our baja to its limits.

Tau Alpha Pi

Tau Alpha Pi is the national engineering technology Honor Society.  The organization’s goals are to recognize high standards of scholarship among engineering technology students and to encourage a commitment to life long learning and continued scholarship in engineering technology.  Tau Alpha Pi members seek to further and improve engineering technology education through promoting the accomplishments and activities of the Department of Technology at SIUC.

Tau Alpha Pi members come from the top four percent of the programs total engineering technology student population.  Newly inducted members receive an honorary certificate of induction and a Tau Alpha Pi key.

Membership to Tau Alpha Pi is by invitation to those that meet the requirements of the SIUC chapter of the society.  Chapter members will evaluate prospective candidate students each spring.  An initiation ceremony held in early April completes the election process.
