Innovative Hands-on experience

An innovative component of the Electrical Engineering Technology online classes is the “hands-on” experience that students will obtain throughout each course. Students will utilize a suite of portable test instruments and software simulation in conjunction with online videos, lectures, software simulations and reading material. The degree can be completed 100% online.

Flexible and Convenient Curriculum

We know you’re busy with life’s many obligations. The Electrical Engineering Technology curriculum is flexible enough to provide the means for graduates of a two-year associate degree in a related field to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree. Students can then finish their EET degree online at SIU Carbondale in two to three years, taking classes on a part-time basis.

It includes 56 semester hours of Electrical Engineering Technology courses covering such subjects as electric circuits, electronics, control systems and microcontrollers and telecommunications, and a capstone design project. Each of our online courses are completed in 16 weeks through the fall and spring and 12 weeks in the summer semester.

Students who have not completed an AAS and are just starting university work can join the online program too. You will devote about one-third of your time to the University Core Curriculum (classes all students take), another third to the required electrical engineering technology courses and the rest of your time to technical electives that will help you meet your specific career objectives.

Total hours needed:

EET major: 56

Approved Electives: 10

University Core/DEPT.: 54

TOTAL: 120
