Dr. Gayan Aruma Baduge won NASA's Deep Space Food Challenge

In October 2021, Dr. Gayan Aruma Baduge as a Co-PI of a multi-disciplinary research team that received $25,000 from NASA and won NASA's Deep Space Food Challenge. This research aims to design and develop a microbial-based next-generation food production system called μBites, which will utilize plastic and biomass waste as the carbon source for food generation through 3D printing.
