Rohit graduated with his B.S. in Mining Engineering from Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur (India), following which he joined SIU for his graduate studies. He completed his M.S. in Mining Engineering at SIU in 2015, and is currently a doctoral candidate. He has concurrently held a Faculty position at MMRE-SIU since 2017, where he has taught Underground Mining (MNGE 310), Surface Mining (MNGE 315) and Mine Ventilation (MNGE 425). He has also co-instructed Engineering Statics (ENGR 250), and Probability Statistics and Modeling (MNGE 417). Rohit’s research specialization is in characterizing flow-coupled geomechanics of deep rocks. His research endeavors cover interdisciplinary areas of coal bioconversion, reservoir characterization, mine ventilation and digital rock imaging. Rohit also has gained practical experience while working for an engineering consulting firm, and multiple mining companies in India.
