Dean's Message
Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics are vital to the US economy and its prosperity. They offer exciting career opportunities. Engineering and technology have been a part of the Southern Illinois University since 1945. Its engineering programs were first accredited in 1971, and its technology program was first accredited in 1972. Currently, the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics covers a wide range of engineering and technology disciplines, which are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), Inc.
Our focus is on student success. The College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics has excellent academic programs. Its student/faculty ratio is very low, its sizes of classes are small, and students receive personal attention from instructors. Its Living Learning Community (LLC) creates a supportive environment for students both academically and socially. Graduates from the College are well received by employers, and our student placement rate is high. College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics faculty are outstanding with both a national and international reputation. They conduct state-of-art research and have won many research awards, such as the NSF CAREER Award. Student organizations at the College are very active, and student teams have won national and regional competitions.
