Scholarships

Undergraduate students are encouraged to visit the Undergraduate Scholarship Office for information on university-wide scholarship opportunities.

Graduate students are encouraged to apply directly to their program for financial support and to visit the Graduate School for information on fellowships and other funding.

College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics Freshman Scholarships

College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics at SIU Carbondale offers attractive scholarships for entering freshmen. These scholarships range from $500 to $3000. There is no separate application for these scholarships; instead, the College evaluates the information submitted with your application for admission. 

College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics Transfer Student Scholarships 

  • College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics Scholarships for Transfer Students
    Students who have completed 26 or more hours of coursework at a 2-year or 4-year college with a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average are encouraged to apply. The award is valued at $1000 ($500 per semester for two consecutive semesters). Award notification begins after February 1. Scholarship selection is competitive and determined by academic performance, coursework completed and other achievements. To be considered for one of the scholarships fill out the application and send it to the College of Engineering, Computing, Technology, and Mathematics.

Continuing Students Scholarships

There are many scholarships available to undergraduate, continuing engineering students on a competitive basis. The application deadline is February 1. Students may apply for scholarships by filling out a single application.

Energy Boost Scholarship

SIU Leadership Development Program (LDP) and scholarship 

The SIU Leadership Development Program is designed to develop the next generation of technical leaders through leadership coaching, one-on-one and peer mentoring, and community service. You can start your path in the LDP as an SIU Sophomore or as a Transfer Student. Each starting point leads to the same destination, becoming a leader! We are proud to be one of the few STEM colleges nationwide to offer a program that provides a direct bridge from classroom training to a successful career as a technical leader.

SI Energy Scholarships

We are pleased to offer the Southern Illinois Energy Scholarships program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The program is supported through a grant from the National Science Foundation. The program is designed to recruit, retain, and graduate academically talented community college transfer students interested in an energy related career. The scholarship is limited to STEM majors (science, technology, engineering and math) For more information, please visit energy-scholarships.siu.edu

SIU McNair Scholars Program

Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the SIU McNair Program prepares undergraduates for graduate school through research and scholarly activities. Our program links students to faculty members who provide intensive, hands-on, mentored research experiences for eight weeks during the summer. Students receive a research award of $2800 for participating in the Summer Research Institute. Also, students participate in workshops, classes, graduate school visits, conferences, and personal and professional development activities throughout the school year. The scholarship program serves first generation, low- income students regardless of their ethnicity and students underrepresented in graduate education. All participants must have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.  For more information, please visit https://mcnair.siu.edu/
