Eric Perks
Erik graduated from SIUC with three degrees in electrical engineering (2005) , computer engineer (2005) and a MBA (2006) and began working in industry immediately after for General Cable which later became Prysmian, the largest wire and cable manufacturer in the world.
Currently, Erik has been the plant manager of the DuQuoin, IL location manufacturing medium voltage insulated power distribution cable with 250 team members serving some of the largest utilities in the US. The DuQuoin plant is going through a $63.8+ million expansion as we add capacity and bring new jobs to the region. Erik started with General Cable as a co-op and continues that relationship by employing SIU students at every opportunity. During the last 18 years Erik has severed in various roles as engineering manager, process innovation and manufacturing.Erik also serves on the Vice Chair for Education Committee for the Wire Association International, Board for the Southern Illinois Workforce Development and the Board for the Chamber of Commerce for DuQuoin. Erik and his wife Emily (class of 2008) live in Southern Illinois.
